Well hello there everyone. Hope all of you'll have had a brilliant holiday period. Can't really say the same about me though. Having a surgery in a couple of days to repair the ACL damage that's happened. Ahh us Arsenal fans follow the team in all ways possible *wink*
Back to the topic now. I have been itching to type this on the screen for the better part of 4 weeks. FOOTBALL SEASON IS BACK!!!!!! Happiness is back. Excitement is back. We all will have something to look forward for the weekends. It's really a feeling which only a fanatic experiences. Not having the luxury to watch your favourite game and team in action is kind of depressing. Worry no more my friends, Sunday the 10th of August, 2014 marks the Curtain Raiser for the new season.
What's really interesting is the Transfer Market Madness which has occurred over the past 40 days since the markets have officially opened. Talking about the team that concerns me the most, Arsenal, Mr.Wenger has gone about spending cash like a excited teenage girl at Forever 21. Never before have I seen manager splash the cash so early in the window. A really satisfying site is to see Arsenal not only replaced Sagna at right back, but in essence replace him with his clone in the shape of Mathieu Debuchy. They have a very similar game including their crossing ability, their spectacular stamina and most importantly their ability to win headers. The self proclaimed Football analyst that I am, I believe that Debuchy just slightly edges Sagna in his heading ability and his art of defending from set pieces. He will Integrate into the team with ease.

Calum Chambers seems like an extremely promising defender. I have seen him play just the 2 games at the Emirates cup and he seems like a big player in the making. Very calm on the ball, good tackler and has a decent reading of the game. Wenger seems to have found an absolute gem in this young English kid. Considering the price the Manchester United paid for Luke Shaw, this deal seems like a steal. Good going AW!

David Ospina is another player that Mr.Wenger has brought in. I have always been of the opinion that every team should have 2 good goalkeepers, however 1 of them should clearly be better than the other. This stops the ego clashes that happen within a team. In Arsenal's case, they are both equally good, Ospina might just edge out Sczesny. It would be very interesting to see how Sczs responds to this cause he has had smooth sailing as Arsenal's undoubted No. 1 for the past 2 and half seasons.

I believe there is another player who we have signed. He is very fast I am told. Very tricky as well. I somehow can't seem to remember hi name.
I kid of course.
Sanchez. Sanchez.Sanchez.Sanchez.Sanchez.Sanchez.

No I am not really excited about this Sanchez signing(never in my life have I spoken a bigger lie than this). Just before the world cup started I had said this to a few friends of mine, "Whichever team signs Alexis Sanchez is winning the league". Never in a million years did I think that Wenger would actually listen to me and go on to get this beast. I still remember him absolutely annihilating the English defence at Wembley when Chile played them in a friendly. This guy is the real deal. Imagine the front 3 of Arsenal as these 3 players:
CHAMBERLAIN, SANCHEZ, WALCOTT.
The opposing teams might as well give up cause this pace would destroy every defence out there.
I have been impressed by how fast Wenger has acted this summer. However, I do believe that this swift business has somehow covered the cracks which lie at the foundation of this team. We still haven't addressed some of our most glaring deficiencies in the team last season. The need for a lethal striker, a Defensive minded midfielder and most importantly a Centre back.
Sanchez has been most effective when coming in from the right and tearing up defences with his speed and trickery. How he will adapt to playing an out an out striker at this arsenal team will be very interesting to see. The fact that he would have to tinker with his playing style a bit should not hamper what in my opinion is the signing of the season.
Now with our captain Vermaelen departing for Barcelona the want of a good 3rd choice Centre back is higher than ever. Its a fact that every big team is on the lookout for a quality Central Defender but there seems to be a shortage of those in the market. Arsenal have been linked with some top draw defenders but I for one really hate to speculate before there is concrete news regarding it. Us Arsenal fans have experienced enough disappointment in the past in these type of situations.
I have always believed that a CDM= Claude Makele. With him retiring this specialty position is as good as dead. There are however some extremely talented impersonators who come extremely close to being a proper CDM, what's better is that they would jump at the chance to sign for this new look Arsenal team. Our manager just has to loosen those purse strings a tiny bit more and secure a signing that Arsenal have been crying out loud for 2 seasons now.
Let the early business not blind us fans. There is still work to be done to refine this team. Wenger has 20 days to take care of business. The fan inside me says he won't disappoint us but the realist says there will be some disappointment. Let's hope for the best and look forward to a wonderful curtain raiser in the form of the Community Shield.
C'mon you Gunners!!! Let's win a trophy before the season begins.
